McCartney: 'I need love'

Paul McCartney has said that he needs love and has spoken out in favour of remaining "dignified" about his relationships.

He said that the darkness of his recent album recorded as The Fireman could be inspired by the recent turmoil in his romantic life, The Sun reports.

McCartney said: "It could be because I've been through a dark place. I am a man who needs love. Every man needs love, guys like romance. I do anyway.

He added that he likes the idea of "being dignified", even when things do not work out.

"I don't think it helps to mouth off all the time," he said.

The former Beatle recently denied that he was planning to marry his current girlfriend Nancy Shevell.
