Patrick Swayze 'gives up chemo'

Patrick Swayze has reportedly given up chemotherapy as doctors concede that they can do little to halt the progress of his disease.

According to a report in the National Enquirer, the actor has decided to stop all treatment for the pancreatic cancer he was diagnosed with last year.

"His condition is inoperable and they have stopped the chemo. He's still losing weight and he's very weak," a family friend told the magazine.

"Patrick regards himself as a cowboy and is determined to die with his boots on and no regrets."

The friend added that the goal was now to keep Swayze comfortable.

Last week, the 56-year-old star of Dirty Dancing and Ghost announced plans to write his memoirs with his wife Lisa.
