Bart's voice used to promote Scientology

Fans of The Simpsons are reportedly angry that Nancy Cartwright has used Bart's voice to promote Scientology.

The artist, who has provided the voices for various Simpsons characters since 1987, spoke as Bart on a voicemail message to promote a church event, reports The Telegraph.

Cartwright began the message by introducing herself as Bart, saying: "Hey, what's happening man, this is Bart Simpson." She then alternated between her own voice and that of the animated character before urging listeners to attend the event in Los Angeles on Jan 31.

Cartwright became a Scientologist in 1989 and has since donated millions of dollars to the movement.
