Wentz: 'Real beauty is on the inside'

Pete Wentz has responded angrily to criticisms of his sister-in-law Jessica Simpson's weight.

Wentz argued that the media's focus on Simpson's size is having a negative effect on young females.

"I think that the media puts too harsh of a spotlight on women in general, and I think it's a bummer," he told Extra. "It's bad for young women. I see it affecting young girls who come to our shows, and that's a bummer."

Earlier this week, Ashlee Simpson and socialite Kim Kardashian attacked the press for mocking Jessica's changing figure.
