Rapper DMX jailed for 90 days

DMX has been sentenced to 90 days in jail after admitting drug, theft and animal cruelty charges.

The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has been held in custody since December after his arrest for failure to attend an earlier court date.

Maricopa County Superior Court commissioner Phemonia Miller gave Simmons no credit for time served and also placed him on 18 months of supervised probation, reports Reuters.

Simmons pleaded guilty in December to theft, marijuana possession and animal cruelty charges.

Authorities said that three dead dogs, guns, ammunition and drug paraphernalia were found during an earlier raid of his Phoenix home. During a further search, Simons barricaded himself in his bedroom for a short time before surrendering.
