Publishers are said to be keen to cash in on the Girls Aloud star's popularity following her successful debut as an X Factor judge last year.
"At the moment Cheryl can do no wrong. Whatever she touches turns to gold," an insider told The People. "She was a singing star in Girls Aloud, but after her instant success as a judge on X Factor she's reached another level.
"Girl fans love her and they will all want to read her books. She's been offered a deal for four of five romantic novels which could be worth up to £5 million. She hadn't previously thought of writing, but she's come around to the idea."
The newspaper claims that Cole has been told to emulate the style of Marian Keyes, who has sold 22 million copies of her own chick lit books.
The singer's novels will apparently centre around heroines dealing with relationship troubles, mirroring her difficulties with husband Ashley Cole in 2008.
