Electra defends Simpson's new figure

Carmen Electra has defended her friend Jessica Simpson's new curvier figure, calling her "gorgeous".

Simpson appeared at a recent gig in Virginia wearing high-waisted, skin-tight leather pants. Press coverage of the show focused on the 28-year-old's apparent weight gain.

"There's going to be moments where people don't necessarily like your look or what you're wearing, and that's okay," Electra told People.

"Next week, she'll rock some outfit that will blow everyone away. She's a gorgeous girl. A lot of women would die to look as good as she looks."

Simpson's sister Ashlee and brother-in-law Pete Wentz have spoken out against the criticism, along with reality star Kim Kardashian.
