Rooney 'a fan of JK Rowling'

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has revealed that he is a fan of JK Rowling's Harry Potter novels.

Rooney was speaking in support of the Premier League Reading Stars project, which aims to help boost literacy among young people.

He said: "I'd encourage any child to read the Harry Potter books - they really get your imagination going."

The footballer added that he is also a fan of Liverpool rival Jamie Carragher's controversial autobiography Carra.

Rowling's most recent book The Tales Of Beedle The Bard was the fastest selling in the UK last year, outranking its nearest rival by five-to-one in just three days.
