Lydon advert boosts butter sales

John Lydon has contributed to an increase in the sales of Dairy Crest Butter, according to the company.

The Sex Pistol and former Public Image Limited frontman featured on billboards and a television advertisement, where he announced: "It's not about Great Britain, it's about Great Butter."

Dairy Crest have attributed an 85% rise in sales in part to the £5 million campaign fronted by Lydon.

The firm had issued a profit warning last November but hailed the strong performance of a number of its important brands.

Despite its success, the advert featuring Lydon was recently voted one of the worst of last year by Campaign magazine.
