Dench locked out of Oscars twice

Dame Judi Dench has revealed that she has twice been locked out of the Oscars for arriving late.

The 74-year-old actress said that she will take a motorbike to the Academy Awards in future to avoid getting caught up in traffic, according to PA.

"I don't really enjoy awards," she said. "It's very nerve-wracking for one thing, it's not really to do with what I do it for. I'm not saying it's not lovely to get something but I'm not a 'going to a lot of things' girl, woman. The Oscars are very, very noisy and twice I've been locked out of the Oscars.

"I was locked out last time but with very, very good company. My daughter and I were locked out with Morgan Freeman and his wife so we thought 'this is pretty classy'. They shut the doors because we were held up with a stream of limos."

Dench was speaking at the London Film Critics' Circle Awards, where she was presented with an Outstanding Contribution To Cinema gong for her performances over her four-decade career.
