Diamond honoured for charity work
Neil Diamond has been honoured for the charitable contributions he has made throughout his long career in the music industry.

Organisers of the Grammy Awards hosted a special concert where the 68-year-old was named the MusiCares Person Of The Year, according to the BBC.

Coldplay, the Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, Adele, The Jonas Brothers and Jennifer Hudson were among artists to perform at the Los Angeles Convention Centre event. Accepting the award, Diamond thanked his mother Rose for buying him a cheap guitar as a child.

"They paid it off a dollar a week for 10 weeks," he said. "It was a good investment, Mum. You invested $10 (£7) and made a life for me."

Previous recipients of the title include former Beach Boys star Brian Wilson and Aretha Franklin.
