McGiffin: 'I met my fiancé drunk'

Carol McGiffin has admitted that she was drunk when she got together with fiancé Mark Cassidy.

The Loose Women star, 48, revealed that she would not have had the courage to approach Cassidy, who is 21 years her junior, if it had not been for alcohol.

"I was quite drunk. But when this friend said, 'You have an admirer', I was like, 'Which one?'" she told heat.

"When she pointed him out, I was like, 'Really?' and marched straight over.

"I think we needed [booze], we'd never have got together without it."

The couple met last August and announced their plans to marry after enjoying a romantic break in Paris.

"We'd been up the Eiffel Tower, came down and the weather was lovely, and he got this ring out and it was so perfect," said McGiffin. "I just screamed. I hate all that soppy sh*t normally. But I love it now."
