Usher's wife recovers from heart attack

Usher's wife is recovering after suffering a cardiac arrest shortly before undergoing plastic surgery in Brazil.

A representative for surgeon Dr. Silvio Sterman confirmed that Tameka Foster experienced an adverse reaction to anaesthetic.

Speaking to The AP, Ellen Dastry explained that Foster had checked into Sau Rafael Hospital last Friday for a "simple liposuction" procedure, but suffered a cardiac arrest while being anaesthetised.

"She was revived in less than a minute by heart massage", said Dastry, adding that Foster had been placed in a medically-induced coma, which was "absolutely normal" in order to "avoid unnecessary complications".

Foster, who was later moved to a better equipped facility, remains hospitalised.

Earlier this week, Usher scrapped a pre-Grammys performance to fly to his wife's bedside in South America.
