MS Corley has made his images available as prints via his website to fans interested in his interpretation of JK Rowling's series.
Corley said that he contacted publishers Scholastic with news of his design but has not yet received a response regarding his Olly Moss and Spacesick-inspired images.
He said: "I for one just wanted to remake book covers.
"I chose the crime format because I liked the layout most for what I wanted to create. These are entirely and intentionally pastiches."
Last year, Warner Bros lost a lawsuit against the makers of Bollywood movie Hari Puttar - A Comedy of Terrors, while an intellectual property dispute halted the release of fan-written encyclopaedia The Harry Potter Lexicon.
