Gary Barlow has reportedly injured his back ahead of his charity Mount Kilimanjaro climb.

The Take That star is one of nine celebrities undertaking the 19,330ft ascend for Comic Relief.

A statement on the band's website said that the muscles in Barlow's back have "gone into spasm" due to his hectic training schedule. Despite the setback, Barlow has been treated and is still due to take part in the Tanzania trip.

"Gary saw an eminent specialist this morning, together with Professor Greg Whyte who is the trainer for the ‘BT Red Nose Climb’, and has been treated appropriately for this minor injury", the statement said.

"There is no cause for concern as long as Gary continues to respond well to treatment and rests from now until he departs for the climb."

Other stars taking part include Chris Moyles, Alesha Dixon, Denise Van Outen, Fearne Cotton, Ben Shephard, Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Ronan Keating.
