Gibson credits Spears's dad for comeback

Mel Gibson has claimed that Britney Spears's recent career comeback is down to the influence of her father Jamie.

The 27-year-old singer was hospitalised last January over mental health fears following a public breakdown.

Her father then stepped in and took over her affairs, an intervention which Gibson claimed led to the The Circus star's successful comeback.

According to WENN, the Lethal Weapon actor said: "She pulled herself out, and her dad... he's the real hero. She's a nice kid, you know. She was just going through a rough patch."
