Wendy Richard sent best wishes to Jade

Wendy Richard called fellow cancer sufferer Jade Goody to give her support just days before she died.

Goody's publicist Max Clifford confirmed that the late EastEnders star phoned his client to congratulate her on her wedding on Sunday, reports PA.

Richard, whose TV career spanned four decades, died yesterday with her husband John Burns by her side. Tributes have since been pouring in for the 65-year-old actress.

Goody was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August while appearing on the Indian version of Big Brother. She has since been told that the cancer has spread and is terminal.

Richard announced in October that she was dying of cancer, having been diagnosed with an aggressive form of the disease last January.
