Jennifer Hudson: 'Work is like therapy'

Jennifer Hudson has told of the value of returning to work following the October slayings of three of her family.

The performer said she was in a "very good place" during a brief appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, reported AP.

"I'm just glad to be back and be back to work again. Just doing what I love to do is like therapy," she said.

The 27-year-old won the Grammy for best R&B album for her self-titled debut LP earlier this month, and said that being presented with the gong by her idol Whitney Houston nearly surpassed winning the award.

"As soon as she stepped out on the stage, I lost it. That's when I got emotional," Hudson said.

Hudson's mother, brother and seven-year-old nephew were shot dead in Chicago last October. William Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia, denies committing the triple homicide.
