The Who star Roger Daltrey has praised Jade Goody for the way she has handled her cancer diagnosis.

Speaking on Sunday AM with Andrew Marr, the group's lead singer said: "What courage the girl has shown. I think it's been really helpful that she's done what she's done and people have seen it.

"I know she gets criticised for it – I don't criticise her at all. I admire her for what she's done."

Daltrey, a well-known fundraiser for the Teenage Cancer Trust, added that the former Big Brother star has helped change perceptions of the disease.

"I think there's also a lot to be learnt that we shouldn't fear cancer as much as we do. The psychological well-being is so important. There's much more success now in curing it," he said.

Goody was rushed to hospital this weekend after experiencing "awful pain". Her condition is said to have deteriorated and her prognosis has been reduced to two to four weeks.
