The trio of comics will perform material from their cinematic alter egos on a 30-date jaunt in April and May. The six week trek starts in Vancouver on April 17 and wraps up in Milwaukee on May 31. Tickets go on sale on Friday.
"We've never gone out as ourselves," said Shearer. "It's interesting, after playing characters all these years, we're having meetings trying to figure out who we are....We have to ask ourselves, 'What would we do?'"
The setlist will feature material from studio albums This Is Spinal Tap, Break Like The Wind and the soundtrack from the Guest-directed movie A Mighty Wind.
During a press conference to announce the shows, the group performed the songs 'Hell Hole', 'Sex Farm' and 'Old Joe's Place'.
Harry Shearer confirmed last month that Spinal Tap were recording their first new material in 16 years. The record, which will feature a 20-minute epic titled 'Short And Sweet', is scheduled for release on May 26.
