Speaking to Elle, the Marley & Me actress confessed that after getting the forehead jab she felt like she "had a weight on my head".
"I make my living from my expressions, so it’s not a great thing to do," she explained. "A lot of actresses have it now, and to each her own."
Discussing the pressure to stay young in Hollywood, she said: "I think [Botox] makes women look older. Harder. The warmth in their face goes away... People lose perspective. That’s what stopped me. I thought, 'Let’s not even get on this train; it’s a ride you can’t get off'."
However, the 40-year-old claimed that she understands the need to stay in good physical shape for her job.
"I’m a realist. I know that if I eat nothing but burgers and chips, I’m not going to be hired for the parts I normally would. I’d become a character actress. That might be fine one day, but not right now," she said.
Marley & Me is released in the UK on March 11.
