Jackson 'has 50 medicals for O2 shows'

Michael Jackson reportedly underwent 50 medical tests to prove that he is fit enough for a run of O2 arena shows.

The 50-year-old singer is expected to announce an open-ended run of gigs at the London venue at 4pm today. Posters advertising ten shows at the arena in July have already appeared on the London Underground.

However, fears over the Thriller star's health meant that he was given a strenuous list of medical examinations before any deal was signed, according to The Mirror.

"Every physical test under the sun was done to ensure all bases were covered," said a source. "They are confident his health is good enough to perform."

Jackson has been residing in the Royal Suite at London's Lanesborough Hotel for the last couple of days.

An advert featuring a montage of his biggest hits is also rumoured to be filling an entire advert break during ITV's Dancing On Ice this weekend.
