Kimberley Walsh has admitted that she spent last night watching Cheryl Cole sleep on their trek up Mount Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief.

Speaking to Vernon Kay on Radio 1's Breakfast Show, the Girls Aloud singer confessed that she was worried about her bandmate's health after Cole began suffering from altitude sickness.

"I was sat up watching her sleep all night just to make sure she was alright, like a psycho," she said in a live call from Tanzania.

Recalling that she spent the evening "projectile vomiting", Cole said: "Last night I had a second of thinking this could be my resting place but I never once thought I'm not going to carry on climbing to the top... so keep spurring us on and we will keep going."

Walsh added that the group should reach the summit tomorrow evening, saying: "That's what's spurring us on now. We can see the finish line. We had a tough day yesterday but we feel like we are up for it again now."

Other celebrities taking part in the charity hike include Gary Barlow, Alesha Dixon and Denise Van Outen.
