Publicist Mara Buxbaum confirmed that the remainder of his one man comedy show 'Weapons Of Self-Destruction' will be cancelled as he needs an aortic valve replacement.
In a statement on his official website, Williams said: "I’m so touched by everyone’s support and well wishes.
"This tour has been amazing fun and I can’t wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up."
Earlier this week, the 57-year-old was forced to scrap four performances in Florida after experiencing shortness of breath.
However, Buxhaum assured fans that the critically-acclaimed 80-city tour, which began in September, will resume in the autumn and all original tickets will be honoured.
Williams, who won an Oscar for Good Will Hunting, is best known for his TV and movie roles, including 1970s sitcom Mork and Mindy and Mrs Doubtfire.
