Stallone injured on 'Expendables' set

Sylvester Stallone has reportedly injured his hand on the set of his forthcoming film The Expendables.

The 62-year-old was rehearsing a fight scene for the action film when he hurt his thumb, says WENN.

The project, which will also star Jet Li, Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham, tells of a team of mercenaries sent to a South American country to overthrow a dictator and liberate its people.

A spokesperson said: "Mr. Stallone injured his hand practising realistic fighting for his upcoming film The Expendables. The injury was to his thumb, [but] the production will be on location in Brazil later this month and then New Orleans."

Stallone has written the screenplay for the Nu Image/Millennium Films project, and will also direct.
