The American TV star's pet Genghis Kahn was one of 17 animals killed by the freak explosion at the Pazzazz Boarding Kennel in Carbon County.
Stewart has written a blog tribute, which features a photo gallery of Genghis snaps, on her official website.
The animals were injured when a routine delivery of propane ignited inside the tank, setting the dogs' pens on fire. Truck driver Timothy Kleinhagen was critically burned in the incident and is currently in a stable condition.
"I am deeply saddened by this story," said Stewart. "My heart goes out to [kennel owner] Karen Tracy and I am hoping for a speedy recovery for those [both pets and humans] injured in this terrible event."
