Pete Burns is in a "serious condition" after undergoing five hours of emergency surgery for kidney failure.

The former Dead Or Alive singer was rushed to a London hospital on March 11 after suffering excruciating pain.

Doctors discovered that Burns had eight kidney stones but were unable to remove them due to a blockage.

"I'm in a very serious condition on 24 hours intravenous morphine for the pain. Intravenous fluid as I'm so dehydrated and the kidneys can't retain the liquid," he wrote on his website.

"I'm critically ill and under 24 hours observation and will be in hospital for quite a long time."

Last year it emerged that Burns would receive a payout of up to £1 million after a surgeon admitted blundering plastic surgery on the star's lips.
