Rihanna, Brown 'take break in relationship'

Rihanna and Chris Brown have reportedly decided to "take a break" in their relationship amid allegations that Brown attacked the singer last month.

R&B star Brown has been charged with assault and making criminal threats in relation to an alleged altercation with Rihanna on February 8.

According to E! News, a source has revealed that the pair are trying to "put some distance" between each other but have dismissed speculation that they are planning a permanent split.

The couple were reported to have rekindled their relationship last month, after enjoying a holiday together in Miami.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Rihanna had decided to resume public appearances following the allegations, and she was later seen enjoying a quiet meal in New York with friends including Jay-Z and Beyoncé .

The insider added that Brown would be remaining in Los Angeles to work on his forthcoming LP, saying: "He's just putting ideas down for some songs he wrote. He needs to feel like he's moving forward."

Representatives for Rihanna and Brown have declined to comment.
