The Desperate Housewives star said that she was surprised to receive the accolade from TV Guide because of her character Gabrielle Solis's frumpy appearance in recent episodes of the ABC show.
The 34-year-old said: "I think the timing for this is pretty funny actually, but also really great. I love that Gaby has been able to withstand time, along with the bad haircuts and all the extra pounds, and is still considered sexy."
The Mentalist star Simon Baker was yesterday named the sexiest man on TV by the magazine. Baker, who plays investigator Patrick Jane on the CBS crime drama series, said that his wife had teased him that the title would be withdrawn if he was seen first thing in the morning.
