Mariah Carey has reportedly made an offer on the world's most expensive mansion.

According to Hollyscoop, the singer has registered her interest in the $125 million (£86 million) French-style estate in Holmby Hills, California, which is set in 15 acres and contains 15 bedrooms.

A unnamed source revealed that the star fell for the property because "there's so little that needs doing to it".

The estate, which is next door to the Playboy Mansion, boasts marble and gold-embossed leather walls and a ballroom with ceiling frescoes.

It also reportedly features a library containing rare books, two kitchens, a screening room for 50 and staff quarters for ten.

Carey, who is married to future America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon, is reportedly relocating from New York to California in a bid to further her acting career.
