The unidentified woman, who is in her early 40s, was detained in Mexico after allegedly sending the actor three death threats when he refused to respond to over 100 autograph requests.
She was thought to have been on the run after failing to attend two scheduled court hearings last year on charges of stalking and threatening to kill Caruso, who plays Horatio Caine in the CBS show.
According to The AP, the woman was deported to Austria yesterday and a judge has been given 24 hours to decide whether she should remain in custody or be released.
A court-appointed psychiatrist has reportedly testified that the woman has a "profound personality disorder".
Authorities have said that a new trial date has not been set, but she could face up to three years in prison if convicted.
