John Craddock told The Mirror that he has not been able to sleep since Goody passed away.
The 70-year-old said: "I just sit here and think about Jade. I will grieve for her forever. I can't express what the loss of that girl is going to do - and not just for me.
"If I could've swapped places with her, I would. If I could've taken all the pain away from her and have it for me instead, I would."
He added that he was "so proud of her", not for her achievements or money but "just for being her - for being Jade".
Goody will be buried on April 4 after a procession through London in a ceremony Max Clifford said would be "very much a Jade Goody Production".
