The actor told The Oprah Winfrey Show that coping with the disease is like dealing with a four-year-old child bothering him all the time.
Fox said: "Whatever you're trying to do, you've got this four-year-old and you're just trying to be patient and focus on what you need to do.
"I'm a dad, I'm a husband, I'm an activist, I'm a writer and I'm just a student of the world. This is one fact of my life, but it's not the totality of it."
The Back To The Future star told Winfrey that he could skate better than he could walk and proved it by taking to the ice at a New York rink to play hockey.
Fox has filmed a one-off hour-long documentary on the subject of optimism, which will air on ABC on May 7.
