The memoirs will span the 48-year-old's career from starting out as a working mum and the first woman to appear on Channel 4 to the end of her 27 years at Countdown.
The Mirror reports that the presenter's memoirs will be published by the end of this year.
Vorderman said: "I've never considered writing my autobiography before, probably because, by the yardstick of today, I am a very private person.
"But from the moment the publishers came to meet me to discuss the possibility of a book, I realised that there is so much to say that people don't know about and certainly won't be expecting, and with the Countdown debacle marking the end of one chapter in my life, I've decided to bite the bullet, big time."
Vorderman announced that she was leaving Countdown last July amid a contract dispute with the Channel 4 show's producers. The mother-of-two later said that the stress surrounding her exit had made her ill.
