Meditation helped 'stabilise' The Beatles
Published Saturday, Apr 4 2009, 19:04 BST | By Sarah Rollo

The singer-songwriter, and fellow bandmember Ringo Starr, are performing at a concert tonight to raise funds to teach at-risk children the art.
The Beatles learned about transcendental meditation in 1967 when they met Indian guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. According to Reuters, Sir Paul described the technique as a "lifelong gift".
"For me, it came at a time when we were looking for something to kind of stabilise us towards the end of the crazy '60s," he said. "It's something you can call on at any time. I think it's a great thing it's actually coming into the mainstream."
The concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York will include performances by Sheryl Crow, Donovan, Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper and Moby.
