McKellen 'struggled' with Day-Lewis on set

Sir Ian McKellen has revealed that he always struggled with Daniel Day-Lewis on set.

According to WENN, the Lord Of The Rings star did not see eye to eye with Day-Lewis because of his method acting.

McKellen said that he found it complicated to act with the Oscar-winner when they were both members of the Royal Shakespeare Company during the 1980s.

"Daniel insists you address him by his character's name the whole time he is doing a film," he said.

"If he is speaking with an American accent, he talks all the time in American. If he is riding horseback, then it is horseback all the time."
