Lohan's father 'relieved' by Ronson split

Lindsay Lohan's father has revealed that he is glad his daughter's relationship with Samantha Ronson is over.

Michael Lohan admitted that he was "relieved" when he heard that the couple had split up, branding their relationship "toxic".

"I've always believed that what Samantha has done - just dragging Lindsay around just to enhance her career - is wrong," said Michael. "It's pretty evident now.

"So let's see where Samantha's career goes when Lindsay's not around now. It's cost Lindsay her emotions and her well-being."

The father of the Mean Girls star encouraged his daughter to move on with her life, and also expressed his hope at rebuilding a relationship with her.

"I hope Lindsay can move on. I know Lindsay's upset over this, but it's an opportunity for her to get on with her life and pursue her career and the goals she should've been pursuing all along."

Earlier this week, Lohan spoke out about the split from her DJ girlfriend, saying she is in "absolute hell".
