Charlize Theron has gone on record with her dismay at US gay marriage laws.
The Oscar-winning actress has said that the current regulations regarding same-sex unions are "a form of apartheid", according to WENN.
The South African born-star said she is "furious" that gay marriages are not recognised as legal and equated America’s ruling to that of her native country’s former apartheid laws, which segregated non-whites and whites.
"It bothers me, maybe it's because I come from a country where I lived under apartheid but this is a form of apartheid and I don't want to be a part of that," she said
Theron added she will not marry long-time boyfriend Stuart Townsend until the laws are changed and gay marriage is made legal in her adopted homeland.
"My ability to get married is a piece of me that I wish I could give to somebody who it would mean so much to," she said. "We should all have the chance. It's just so caveman, I can't believe we're still talking about it."
