The 'Rehab' singer returned to the Caribbean island earlier this month and is expected to further extend her stay as she works on her third album.
"She's spoken a bit about moving there permanently, and I think it might do her the world of good," mother Janis Winehouse told Heat.
"She's so happy and relaxed, a different person. She's having a childhood again, loving it, and it's what she deserves. It's so lovely to see her like that."
However, Janis claimed that the singer was still struggling to come to terms with the breakdown of her marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil.
"Time is certainly helping her get over him, but when I saw her the other week, she was crying her heart out, saying how much she wants to be with him," she said.
"Personally, as her mother, I find him very controlling and manipulating."
Winehouse has reportedly secured the help of long-time collaborator Mark Ronson to work on her upcoming record.
