Managers at Chelmsford Prison have opted to put Tweed in the secure healthcare area of the jail because of fears he will be targeted by other inmates due to his fame, The Sun reports.
A source said: "He's been through some terrible weeks and the bosses don't want to take any risks with him.
"Jack was having nightmares about returning as he was picked on so badly last time because of his celebrity status."
The source added: "There are genuine concerns that he could be targeted. It's the sort of thing the tough guys would brag about to their mates.
"The last thing the governor wants is for someone like Jack with a high media profile to take a shoeing. They'd rather give him the soft soap treatment than risk bad headlines."
The insider also claimed that Tweed would be transferred from Chelmsford to a less-threatening jail by next week.
Tweed has been sentenced to 12 weeks in prison after being found guilty of assaulting a taxi driver.
