The natural mother of Rubina Ali has reportedly pledged to win custody of her daughter.

Khursheed Ali, 26, made the vow after hearing allegations that her former partner Rafiq Qureshi wanted to sell the Slumdog Millionaire child star for £200,000.

Qureshi has since been cleared of the allegations after being questioned by Indian police.

However, the child's mother told the News Of The World that she wants more influence in the child's upbringing. "I left Rafiq five years ago...but I took the children with me," she said. "It was poverty that forced me to let them go back to him a year later. But we stayed in touch."

Ali vowed to do "whatever it takes" to secure the return of her child, adding: "I love her more than anybody can."
