Sponsors stick by Wayne Rooney

Sponsors Coca-Cola and Nike have decided to stick by Wayne Rooney, despite a series of tabloid revelations about his private life.

Rooney's contract with Coca-Cola will still continue until 2006, and his ten-year deal with Nike, worth around £5 million, will also continue.

A spokesperson for Coca-Cola explained, "We believe everyone deserves a second chance. He’s a great talent.

"While recent revelations about his private life are inconsistent with Coca-Cola values, we know he regrets his mistakes."
