The ASA said that the Swiftcover commercial implied that the 'Search And Destroy' singer had a policy with the company, but the company did not then offer policies tailored for musicians.
In the clip, a gyrating Iggy claims: "I got it Swiftcovered. I got insurance on my insurance."
The watchdog ruled the advert may lead "some viewers to believe the policy covered those who worked in entertainment, when it did not".
After complaints from 12 viewers, it was decided that the advert must not be shown again in its current form.
Swiftcover argued that Iggy had been chosen for his reputation rather than his profession, while the firm has since introduced insurance policies for those in the music industry.
