The cookbook authoress, who is engaged to jazz singer Jamie Cullum, made the comments when speaking to Jonathan Ross during filming for his Friday night TV show.
She said of the press fixation on her appearance: "I didn't really notice I was any different before...the more focus there was on my weight, the more confusing it was."
Dahl, who has previously admitted that she does not believe in dieting, also revealed that she thinks about food a lot.
"I'm still very greedy - I think about food all the time," she said. "There's this myth that there's some diet secret."
Dahl appears on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross tonight at 10.35pm on BBC One.
