Claire Richards: My Big Fat Wedding, which aired last night on BBC Three, saw Richards battle to lose weight ahead of her wedding to record executive Reece Hill.
Speaking to This Morning, Richards said: "During the show, I burnt some clothes, and it was a poignant moment really.
"It felt like I was getting rid of the old Claire - the Claire that I didn't like. The Claire that was miserable most of the time, and upset every time we had to go out because I could never find anything to wear."
The 'Better Best Forgotten' singer also admitted that when she was bigger she felt "awful" when fans failed to notice her.
"People didn't recognise me - even Faye's dad didn't recognise me once," Richards said. "Being out and about, even with the other band members, [fans] would ask for their autograph and not mine."
Richards reportedly lost six stone over a period of 12 months.
