Andre 3000 fined $1,200 for speeding

Outkast star Andre 3000 has escaped appearing in court after being arrested for driving at 109mph on a highway in Atlanta.

The rapper, real name Andre Benjamin, was nabbed by police after being caught speeding through a 65mph zone last month.

According to the Daily Express, the star was scheduled to appear before a judge earlier this week, but was instead able to settle the charge by paying a $1,200 fine.

Benjamin had reportedly told officers that he was speeding because he had missed his exit and had to turn around.
