According to The Sun, the FA and Sport Relief have asked the Gavin & Stacey star to record a cover version of New Order's track 'World In Motion'.
"He is in two minds about it...He would hate to do anything that spoiled the original. On the other hand it is for charity and he loved doing a Comic Relief sketch with the team which featured the lyrics," said a friend of the star.
"Offering a football fan a chance to make a video with the England side is pretty tempting. It would be a great DVD to show the kids."
'World In Motion' was originally produced for England's World Cup bid in 1990 and became the first and only New Order single to reach number one in the British charts.
