Fry 'sobs' over Norwich relegation

Stephen Fry has 'cried' online as his favoured football team Norwich City were relegated from the Championship.

The actor had previously predicted that the club would not be saved by any last-day heroics following their 2-0 defeat to Reading.

City's relegation was confirmed as they lost 4-2 to bottom-placed Charlton when Deon Burton scored a hat-trick, though Barnsley's 2-1 victory at Plymouth meant that the result was academic.

At one point, Fry wrote on his Twitter page: "Boo hoo, boo hoo, boo hoo. Poor dear Norwich. But still hope. We just scored..."

However, at the final whistle he concluded: "Well, that's that then. Norwich in the '3rd tier'. *sob*."

Fry was an early adopter of the Twitter social networking website and was the third most popular user of the application before being overtaken by other celebrities including Britney Spears and Ashton Kutcher.
