White Stripes drummer to wed this year

White Stripes drummer Meg White has confirmed speculation that she is engaged to Jackson Smith, the son of punk star Patti and MC5 guitarist Fred.

According to the Detroit Free News, the couple are planning to tie the knot in a small, private ceremony in Nashville on May 22.

Speaking to People, a representative for the star confirmed that the pair would marry later this year but declined to give any further details.

Despite claiming to be brother and sister, it has been suggested that White was previously wed to bandmate Jack from 1996 until 2000.
