Sutherland 'headbutts fashion designer'

Kiefer Sutherland is reportedly facing an investigation after allegedly headbutting a fashion designer in a dispute over actress Brooke Shields.

According to TMZ, the 24 star was attending an after party for the Costume Institute Of The Metropolitan Museum Gala in New York on Monday night when Jack McCollough knocked Shields over.

Witnesses reported that Sutherland then asked the designer to apologise but was pushed out of the way by McCollough. The actor is said to have responded by headbutting the victim, who reportedly sustained cuts to his nose.

In a later statement to the website, a representative for Shields insisted that "nothing happened" to the actress, saying: "Jack did nothing inappropriate. It's not clear what caused Kiefer to do what he did."

However, the spokesperson added that he was unsure whether the designer might have accidentally touched her.

Police are thought to be investigating the incident and sources have claimed that Shields will be interviewed by officials tomorrow.
